It has been brought to our attention that the exposure times we recommended here previously were too long for some B9 printers, causing the attachment of the layers to the PDMS non-stick surface. We have confirmed this through tests by users that were reporting this problem and have now altered the formulation slightly to accommodate for more powerful B9 projectors.
How is it that some B9 projectors, such as our model, will need longer exposure times by a factor 2 or 3? The best explanation that we can come up with is that some Vivitek projectors used for the B9 will have more effective UV filters that cut out more radiation between 385 and 425nm. This may not be perceptible to the naked eye, but a few % more absorption will affect the cure speed of our sensitive resins.
Our new B9 compatible formula will keep the same properties as the standard products, but will be slightly less reactive. It will cure as follows, for 50 microns (0.05mm) XY resolution:
Fast B9 projectors (configure these settings the first time you use our resins)
First layer exposure: 10 sec, 4 base layers
T-Base: 3 sec
T-Over: 4 sec
Slow B9 projectors (if the above settings cause delamination and/or faulty layers)
First layer exposure: 18 sec, 4 base layers
T-Base: 10 sec
T-Over: 10 sec
The B9 Creator allows for the creation of a material catalogue that holds print parameters related to each resin. These may vary slightly for each material and resolution setting (more accurately, the print area).
